The registration process of NEETPG 2024 counselling was started in the late evening of 20th Sept 2024, since then it’s on hold. Acc to our sources, it may start anytime soon, but only after the approval from health ministry.
We briskly analysed past year’s time schedules, as conclusion: 1 Round takes about 18-20 days for its completion, whereas 2-3 days are there between 2 rounds.
If by chance counselling starts from 2nd week of October, then it’s for sure “3rd Round” shall be conducted after INICET November session result ie 16th Nov 2024. Many aspirants (those who appear) will now again have, options based on INICET results. This may have a positive impact on NEETPG Round-3, ie it may lead to further lowering of cutoff.
This delay has lead aspirants anxious, our correspondents talked to various students and tried to gather their views.
Dr Rajshree Grover, an aspirant scoring a rank of 4k, from LLRM Medical college, Meerut says “the anxiety of getting my desired branch from my desired hospital is increasing everyday, just waiting for the counselling schedule so that we can plan things accordingly.” When we ask her about how she is managing the uncertainty caused by the delay? She added “I try to keep myself busy with other productive things that i was not able to do in the past few years and also talk to my seniors regarding which college to prefer.” Dr Rajshree stressed on transparency during the whole process from releasing the question papers to concept of normalisation.
A Student looking for private medical college says, she has already applied for 4 state counselling, to make sure she got her seat in desired college. But she is anxious as many people will be doing this same process and will lead to seat blocking in initial rounds. There is a probability due to non free exit in further rounds, her money may lapse in many states.
“1st year of residency is of 12 months, but due to the delay in counselling it has extended by 1 month as on now, but if we consider the academic schedule in future it will be more than 2-2.5 months. We are the junior most workforce in a hospital, and most of basic work lies on our shoulders. The crucial period of learning starts from 2nd year onwards, which will not be fulfilled till new batch joins.”– says Dr Shubham Jadaun, Resident in Surgery at JNMC, AMU. “We are now being exhausted physically as well as mentally.” – he further added.
The NEET PG results have left the in-service aspirants in an anxious and confused state.
“The State counselling bodies are facing difficulties on awarding incentive marks to the inservice candidates as “Normalised scores/Scores” are missing from the score card, thus creating a confusion so as to where these extra “incentive marks” are to be added….. Only percentile scores have been declared, to which the additional marks are impossible to add. Even if the incentive marks are added to the indirect calculated score (based on the number of correct incorrect responses) it will be a cumbersome process as the entire state list has to be redone in a similar manner to prepare the state merit list.” says Dr Shankul Dwivedi National Secretary General IMA JDN
NBE should have given normalised score to make things easier and transparent for the inservice aspirants across the nation.
