As per the Rajasthan University Board of Management’s decision on 08/11/2024 and directions from the Directorate of Medical Health and Family Welfare Services, Government of Rajasthan, the Medical Officer Direct Recruitment Exam 2024 for 1220 posts, initially scheduled for 17/11/2024, has been postponed until further notice due to unavoidable circumstances.

Candidates are advised to regularly check the University website (www.ruhsraj.org) for updates on the new exam date and further details.
Past Scenario
Earlier for Rajasthan Medical Officer Recruitment’s (MO) there were 15,000 recruitments over 5 years, at a rate of 3,000 per year.
Concern of Stakeholders
In the latest notification, the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) was scheduled an examination on 17th Nov 2024 for 1,220 posts, with approximately 14,600 candidates expected to appear—double the turnout of the previous recruitment’s. NEETPG 2024 counselling was also underway, directly impacting this MO recruitment exam.
Students were in fear that if both processes proceed simultaneously, they may be forced to temporarily accept MO allotments to secure positions, only to ultimately join their NEETPG 2024 allotted seats. This situation could result in over 1,000 MO seats being left vacant, as many candidates would shift from the MO posts to pursue their NEETPG seats. Last time also in the recruitment for 1765 posts, 450 posts were left vacant in the same way.
To address the issue, MBBS graduates had earlier written to the Medical Minister, RUHS, and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), requesting an increase in the number of posts and a postponement of the exam date due to the overlap with NEET PG counselling and these demands have now been accepted.
Former minister Kalicharan Saraf had also advocated for increasing the positions from 1,220 to 2,700.
