A pressing issue has emerged from Telangana regarding the NEETPG counseling process. NEET postgraduate students have made an urgent appeal to the Honourable Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, seeking a swift judgment or order to kick-start the state counseling process for the academic year 2024-2025.
Current Situation
Currently, thousands of students find themselves in a state of limbo, grappling with the crucial decision of whether to choose the All India Quota (AIQ) or the state quota. The delays in the state counseling process have left many feeling anxious and uncertain as the academic year is slated to begin on December 20, 2024. The absence of clear information regarding ranks or counseling timelines has caused significant financial and academic distress among students. Furthermore, many Telangana candidates are losing valuable All India seats to students from other states, which exacerbates the competitive landscape during the state counseling rounds.
Key Requests
In their petition to the High Court, the students have articulated several essential requests:
1. Expedited Judgment: A call for the Telangana High Court to expedite its judgment to facilitate the immediate commencement of the state counseling process.
2. Candidate List Release: A directive for KNR University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) to publish a list of NEET PG 2024 candidates holding KNRUHS degree certificates.
3. Counseling Rounds Management: A request for KNRUHS to conduct the first two rounds of state counseling before proceeding with the third round of AIQ counseling.
4. Timely Results Announcement: A call for the State Round 1 results to be declared prior to the deadline for joining AIQ Round 2 and for the State Round 2 results to be announced before the resignation deadline for AIQ candidates.
5. Seat Selection Clarity: A plea to prevent students opting for free exit in State Round 1 from reselecting the same seat in subsequent rounds.6. Disallowing Seat Blocking: A request for the Court to direct KNRUHS to prevent seat blocking by disallowing candidates who secured new seats in AIQ Round 3 from participating in state counseling.
Urgency of the Situation
The students have expressed a strong desire for KNRUHS to avoid further delays following the court’s judgment and to promptly release either a finalized or provisional merit list. They have also requested the publication of a seat matrix to assist students in making informed choices during the counseling process.
Conveying the urgency of this situation, the petitioners have referred to it as an emergency, urging the Telangana High Court to intervene promptly and resolve the ongoing crisis. As we stand on the brink of a new academic year, NEET postgraduate students in Telangana sincerely hope that the court will act swiftly to ensure a seamless and timely counselling process for the 2024-2025 academic year.
