The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has invited applications for the Short Term Studentship (STS) 2026 programme, aimed at promoting research aptitude among undergraduate medical and dental students across the country. The programme provides students an opportunity to undertake short-term biomedical and public health research projects under faculty guidance.

As per the revised STS framework, the programme is primarily open to 1st and 2nd professional MBBS and BDS students. Selected candidates undertake research projects and receive financial support upon successful completion and submission of the study.

The last date for submission of applications for ICMR STS 2026 is May 30, 2026, 5PM. Students are advised to finalize research topics, identify mentors, and complete the online application process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.

The STS programme continues to serve as an important platform for introducing undergraduate students to research methodology, scientific writing, evidence-based medicine, and early academic exposure in healthcare research.
