Dr Akash Bhongra, a second-year postgraduate student in the Orthopedics Department at RIMS, jumped from the rooftop of Hostel No. 4 late Sunday night with his girlfriend. Unfortunately, Dr Akash died in the incident, while Pallavi (his female friend) survived but sustained serious injuries, including a broken collarbone. Both had gone to the terrace earlier that evening ie 20th Oct 2024.
Dr Akash, was from Jamshedpur, had completed his MBBS in 2013 and was pursuing his postgraduation in Orthopedics at RIMS. On the day of the incident, there was a heated argument between Dr Akash and his girlfriend Pallavi. It is suspected that both jumped from the terrace after the argument.
Dr Akash was found unconscious at the trauma center, and the woman, although seriously injured, was conscious. The exact cause of the incident is unclear as no concrete reason was determined during the police investigation.
Colleagues rushed to the trauma center upon hearing the news. This tragic incident shocked the local medical community, and further investigations are underway to understand the motives behind the event.
