The INICET January 2025 examination was finally concluded on 10th November 2024. The exam was conducted in a single shift across the country in Computer-Based Mode by AIIMS, New Delhi.
The Medical Bulletin talked to multiple students and took their views and we concluded that the Paper was “overall moderate” in difficulty. Almost all students accepted it was in easier side than recently conducted NEETPG 2024 Examination on 11th Aug 2024.
The exam featured wide a range of questions that seemed manageable for well-prepared candidates.
The exam included a good number of PYTs – Previous Year Topics and a few direct repeats (ie PYQ’s), which helped students feel comfortable. Around 30–40 image-based questions (IBQs) were present, Many questions were short-stemmed or one-liners, relying on buzzwords, which made them easier to tackle quickly.
The overall length of the exam did not create time constraints ie paper was not lengthy.
The paper had questions more from 1st and 2nd Prof Subjects than 3rd and 4th Prof subjects. Subjects like particularly pathology and pharmacology, were more prominent and more basic questions were asked, whereas shorter subjects like ENT, ophthalmology, PSM, Anaesthesia, Dermatology etc had limited representation.
Pediatrics, Surgery and Biochemistry were also less represented as usual. Moreover Psychiatry was notably absent from the paper, while medicine questions were more integrated, requiring a more holistic understanding.
Around 50–60 questions required problem-solving, with 20–30 multiple-combination types that necessitated logical reasoning, though only 5-10 questions were unfamiliar or unconventional. Students also reported that, Surprisingly 1 question had missed mislabelling.
In Conclusion The question distribution balanced conceptual and recall-based content, making time management straightforward. The concise structure of many questions helped reduce mental pressure, created a fair exam experience for candidates who had a good grasp of core topics.
